Sleep Difficulties

Sleep difficulties cover a range of situations. From general sleeplessness or insomnia to disordered sleep-wake cycles, sleep difficulties can affect every aspect of your life. Insomnia is often considered a symptom of something else such as Depression or Stress, and these root causes need to be identified and treated. Disordered sleep-wake cycles are defined as sleeping for around 4 hours at a time, several times over a 24-hour period.

In order to determine which sleep difficulties you are suffering with, it is important that a qualified Professional Psychologist, such as Margaret McDonald, run a complete assessment. In conjunction with your GP to rule out any physical problems, sleep difficulties can then be assessed at the cause of the problem, rather than just the symptoms. Relaxation therapy, stress management counselling and mindfulness therapy can all be used to help you get a good night’s sleep.

With over 30 years counselling experience, Margaret McDonald can help assess the cause of your sleep difficulties and teach you the skills and strategies to alleviate them. To book an appointment or make enquiries phone 07 3862 8833 or email reception@mmcdonald.com.au.
