Ongoing pain makes every day a nightmare. 1 in 5 Australians report ongoing, consistent pain that interferes with their day-to-day life. The most common pain is back pain, but there are many other causes of chronic pain and in some cases the cause is unknown. The effects of chronic pain on the body include high levels of stress hormones, gastrointestinal problems, ongoing fatigue and depression. Treatment for chronic pain include medicinal (pain killers) and psychological counselling.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) teaches clients new ways to think about their pain, and in turn how to feel and behave in reaction to it. Margaret McDonald has used these techniques with great success, to help clients change their thinking, and self-manage their chronic pain. Margaret teaches ongoing techniques to help clients look forward to a more comfortable future.
With over 30 years of counselling experience as a Professional Psychologist, Margaret McDonald can teach CBT therapies to help sufferers of chronic pain. To book an appointment or make enquiries phone 07 3862 8833 or email reception@mmcdonald.com.au
