Professional help from an experienced psychologist
If you are looking for a Brisbane Clinical Psychologist who charges reasonable prices, Margaret has several options available to you.
Margaret is a Veteran Affairs Provider and is a registered provider with Medicare Australia. Contact us for more information.
Generous rebates provided by Medicare Australia are now available for psychological services under certain conditions.
How do Medicare Rebates work? How do I access them?
Follow these three easy steps:
- Make an appointment to see your GP to discuss the option of being placed on a GP Mental Health Care Plan. It is important that when you make this appointment with your GP you inform the receptionist that you want to discuss the GP Mental Health Care Plan with the GP.
- The GP will determine your eligibility and decide if you would benefit from seeing a psychologist. A GP Mental Health Care Plan will be completed at the time of the visit and you can request a referral to see Margaret McDonald Clinical Psychologist Brisbane.
- After your first 6 sessions with Margaret, you will need to revisit your GP to discuss your progress. If necessary, you may be given an additional 4 sessions.
Am I eligible?
Your GP must determine your eligibility after a diagnosis. It is not income tested. Most common disorders are eligible including depression, anxiety, panic attacks, sleep problems, anger management and many more.
How many sessions can be claimed?
Medicare Australia currently advises that up to 10 individual sessions of counselling with a psychologist can be claimed in a calendar year.
If I have a GP Mental Health Care Plan will it still cost me?
The Medicare Rebate does not cover the full cost of an appointment. However, the Medicare Rebate provided for psychological services does significantly reduce the expense of these services. Discounts or bulk billing are available for Low Income Heath Care Card holders.
