Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

By July 10, 2019May 15th, 2024No Comments

A car accident, abuse, war, natural disasters all of these are terrifying at the time. But for some people the terror doesn’t end there. They experience unwanted and recurring memories of the event, they have trouble sleeping or they might feel emotionally numb. All of these things are symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

If you have been through a traumatic event, and feel that you aren’t coping as well as you’d like, a visit to your GP can help diagnose your symptoms. If your GP feels that you may have PTSD, they can prescribe medication to help your day to day functioning. It is, however, important to engage a qualified professional to help you through the emotional distress associated with PTSD.

With over thirty years of experience as a Professional Psychologist, Margaret McDonald can help you face and resolve the trauma that you experienced. Margaret can help you learn coping strategies and tools to lessen anxiety and improve your quality of life. To arrange an appointment, phone our office on 3862 8833 or email reception@mmcdonald.com.au
